Position Paper in co-production with Dutch Nature and Environmental Federation (NMF)
If we want to continue with onshore solar and wind farms – which is necessary – then the quality of projects will need to improve because the support of citizens and politicians in the Netherlands is eroding. As society we know better and better what kind of renewable energy projects we would like, but we get more and more of what we don’t want.
It is about time to realize more quality in energy projects and pay more attention to the living environment. In this Position Paper we propose that every project should have a number of standard basic qualities, and that projects should be truly multi-functional. In this way, social acceptance of renewable energy projects can increase again.
This Position Paper is a co-production of De Natuur en Milieufederaties (NMFs) and Wageningen University & Research (WUR). With this paper, we address politicians, policymakers and administrators who are capable of taking energy generation to a higher level – and thus safeguarding the Dutch climate goals.
