Presentation Habitat III conference in Quito, Ecuador
From October 15th till October 20th, NRGlab member Ilse Voskamp attended the Habitat III conference in Quito, Ecuador. Ilse presented the results of the Urban Pulse research at the conference exhibition, in a joint booth from AMS and Wageningen University and Research.
Habitat III is the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development, which is held once every 20 years (Habitat I: Vancouver, 1976; Habitat II: Istanbul, 1996). The 2016 conference attracted 30,000 people, among which 10,000 international participants from 167 countries, and was comprised of almost 1,000 events in four days. Focus of the conference was the adoption of the New Urban Agenda: 175 paragraphs with action-oriented guidelines that aim to concretise the ideal of sustainable urban development. Focal themes included: providing affordable urban services and utilities, designing policies and planning urban spaces for all.
